CMS urges practitioners to keep track of their own data; why and how we help

The Open Payments program is a national disclosure program that promotes a more transparent and accountable health care system. Open Payments houses a publicly accessible database of payments that reporting entities, including drug and medical device companies, make to covered recipients like physicians. (more information can be found at www.cms.gov) CMS, AMA and many thought leaders encourage providers to keep track of their own spending. Who has the time to do that?

The answer is Clinicpass.

WHY

Although, the burden of complying with Open Payments is placed upon manufacturers, not practitioners. Providers do not have to do anything to comply with Open Payments; however, it is strongly recommended to keep individual records of payments and transfers of money as a cross check of what is reported. Understandably, practitioners do not have time to keep track of this on their own, and that is why Clinicpass aligns with the reps to create a provider log of spend per educational event.

HOW

This is super easy to do & it is of HUGE benefit to the clinic for accounting purposes. After each event involving food, the rep must report the details of the event within 30 days for clinic accounting (how much was spent, doctors present & numeric value of non-physicians in attendance). Information provided is for the clinic's accounting records only and can be compared to what is reported to CMS Open Payments (Sunshine Act).

It is like insurance; it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Our services are designed to bring efficiency and time saving services to the clinic . . . allowing reps to provide educational in-services, samples and product information to help aid in patient care.
